Pretty Paper
By: Willie Nelson
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your presents to your darling from you
Pretty pencils to write “I love you”
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Crowded street, busy feet hustle by him.
Downtown shoppers, Christmas is nigh.
There he sits all alone on the sidewalk
Hoping that you won’t pass him by.
Should you stop? Better not, much too busy .
You’re in a hurry, my how time does fly!
In the distance, the ringing of laughter,
And in the midst of the laughter he cries
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue!
Wrap your presents to your darling from you.
Pretty pencils to write “I love you”
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue.
What lovely details there are in this scene - especially in the enlarged version. Is that your mother in the photograph on the tabletop? And by the way, the big box television on the right is similar to the one we had in the late '50s.

Yes, that's my mom...you have a good eye! We watched that TV well into the early 1960's. I still have the hassock sitting in front of the TV with the chair it went with (recovered)...it was my grandpa's chair.
