Many thanks to Anne Mordel of the French Genealogy Blog for her introduction to the story of the Huguenots in France in her recent post Huguenot Genealogy-A Bit of Background. My Mauzy ancestors, referenced in a Surname Saturday post recently, were members of this Protestant group, and made their way to North America as a result of the persecution. Anne's chronology of the events is fascinating, and her links to online resources are very helpful. If you also have ancestors from France, be sure to pay her a visit!

This is a very nice and attractive blog. What a lot of French names you have in your background! Good luck with finding them all and thank you for mentioning my blog here.

Thanks, Anne....except for Mauzy, I have married into most of the French names. But they are no less interesting!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the Huguenots link. Our ancestor, Capt. Edmund DuChastel, is believed to have been a French Huguenot.
ReplyDeleteOn another note - I have nominated your site for the Kreativ Blogger award. Please see http://tr.im/G8ZE to collect.
